Afaf recognises that gambling can be addictive. This page sets out Afaf's approach to responsible gaming and the practical tools provided to customers to maintain control of gambling activity.
What is problem gambling?
Problem gambling is a pattern of gambling behavior that results in harm to personal finances, relationships, work or study, or mental health. It exists where an individual loses control over time and money spent on gambling, and efforts to stop are insufficient.
Our responsible gaming framework
Afaf operates in compliance with the governing licensing regime and relevant consumer protection standards. The responsible gaming framework includes information, risk indicators, self-help tools, and staff training to recognise and assist customers who may be affected by gambling-related harm.
Control tools to stay in control
Customers may set the following controls through their account settings:
- Deposit limits: cap the amount that may be deposited within a defined period (daily, weekly, monthly).
- Loss limits: cap the amount that may be lost within a defined period.
- Session limits and breaks: limit continuous play time or initiate breaks from gambling.
Operational notes: activation of a new limit may take up to 24 hours; increases or resets of limits take effect seven days after the request. Reductions to limits take effect immediately when saved. Self-initiated changes are subject to the platform's policy on timing and processing.
Self-exclusion and cooling-off
Afaf provides self-exclusion options to block access to gambling services for defined periods or indefinitely:
- 15, 30, 60 or 90 days; or
- Indefinite exclusion (a permanent break).
During a fixed-term self-exclusion, the customer account is blocked, and marketing communications are paused. For indefinite exclusion, revocation requires a notice period of at least seven days after receipt of the withdrawal of exclusion request; new accounts cannot be opened during the exclusion period. The platform will implement appropriate safeguards to prevent circumvention.
Minors and age verification
Afaf prohibits participation by individuals under the age of 18 or under the local legal age applicable in the customer's jurisdiction, whichever is higher. Registration and ongoing verification procedures are employed to enforce age restrictions. Misrepresentation of age may result in loss of winnings and applicable civil or criminal consequences to the extent permitted by law.
Self-assessment and recognition of risk
Afaf provides a self-assessment mechanism to identify indicators of problematic gambling. If a customer answers affirmatively to multiple questions, they should consider reducing activity or seeking professional help. Example indicators include:
- Gambling is used to escape from personal difficulties or negative emotions.
- You gamble even when funds or time are needed for essential expenses or responsibilities.
- You have borrowed, hidden, or stolen money to gamble.
- Your gambling has caused relationship or employment problems.

Customers who may be experiencing gambling-related harm should seek confidential assistance from qualified health or addiction professionals and government- or regulator-recognised services. Afaf will provide information about local support resources and facilitate referrals in compliance with applicable data protection laws.
